Eluru: Scores of farmers under the aegis of AP Rytu Sangham rallied in the streets of the city as part of ‘Chalo Delhi’ call given by All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) here on Wednesday.

Farmers cultivating different crops came here to join the protesters who raised slogan ‘Protect agriculture sector- save farmer’.

The AP Rytu Sangham WG district upland committee president GV Krishna Rao and secretary K Srinivas, motivated the farmers to join the agitation to save farming.

Addressing the gathering, the leaders alleged that the NDA government led by Narendra Modi at the Centre had miserably failed to protect the interests of the farmers.

The farming community was not getting support price for their yield.

They demanded that the government should bring an support price Act so that the farmers should have the right to sell their produce directly.

The government should also help the debt-ridden farmers by another law on the lines of the one being implemented in Kerala.

The agitators demanded that the government should come to the farmers cultivating paddy, sugarcane, oil palm, tobacco, cocoa, coconut, plantain, lemon and vegetables. Many leaders of Rytu Sangham coordinated the rally.
