Veligonda project works to resume from Sept 15

Markapuram: Prakasam District Collector Vadarevu Vinay Chand announced that the Pula Subbaiah Veligonda project tunnel boring works will resume from September 15 and 16. He, along with Joint Collector S Nagalakshmi, project CE Gopala Reddy, SE Reddaiah, Markapuram In-charge RDO P Kondaiah, visited the head regulator works of the Veligonda project at Kollamvagu on Friday.

After the visit, the Collector announced that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is showing special interest on Veligonda, Gundlakamma and Korisapadu projects in the district. He said that the Chief Minister wants to mitigate drought from the district by providing water from the Veligonda project by completing it as early as possible. 

He said that to complete the project at a brisk pace, the government has awarded the works to the new contractors and they are getting ready to restart the works on September 15 and 16 by installing new cutters and rollers to the tunnel boring machine.

Vinay Chand said that the Chief Minister will visit the district this month to review the status of the Veligonda project and ordered the officials to be careful in the meeting the deadline as he is committed to provide drinking and irrigation water soon to the western area of the district.
