BJP flays delay in benefits to pregnant women at Urban Health Centre in Suryanarayanapuram area in Kakinada

Kakinada: BJP leaders headed by Kakinada city unit president P Ravi Kiran visited urban health centre (UHC) at Suryanarayanapuram here on Sunday.

According to Ravi Kiran, a total 331 pregnant women from BPL families enrolled in this centre. He observed that the pregnant women were entitled to free assistance of Rs 6,000 in rural areas and Rs 5,400 in urban areas in different phases for nutritious food and for allied needs during  pregnancy and after delivery.

 In this disbursement, the authorities were taking 60 to 90 days time for the first installment itself. 

The BJP leader observed that this would affect the very purpose for which the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojan (PMMVY) was taken up by Narendra Modi government.  

The pregnant women need nutritious food immediately from the first month of the pregnancy, he observed.

The BJP leader said that he would bring the delay in the release of PMMVY benefits to the notice of the concerned besides to the notice of Union Health ministry.
