The consumers are habituated to using two-wheelers and cars for daily needs. But the sky rocketing prices of diesel and petrol is causing a lot of burden, said K Satish a marketing representative. He expressed apprehensions that the petrol price may go up to Rs 100 per litre if the same situation continues some more weeks.

In Krishna district, 250 fuel dealers sell 12.50 lakh litres of diesel and petrol every day with average of 5000 litres by each dealer. Every month, the petrol and diesel dealers sell about 37.50 lakh litres of diesel and petrol in the district.

On the other hand, the prices of petrol increased by Rs 4 and diesel by Rs 5 on each litre during the past 40 days. If the diesel and petrol prices are combined the average increase on each litre is Rs.4.50 per litre.

Now, the consumers are paying extra price of Rs.4.50 on average on diesel or petrol when compared to 40 days ago. If we calculate the extra price of Rs.4.50 on monthly purchase of 37.50 lakh litres, the burden on the consumers is Rs.1.70 crore.

The consumers mostly two-wheeler, car users and auto rikshaw drivers have to bear an extra burden of Rs.1.70 crore every month. The burden may rise if the prices and diesel and petrol rise in the market.  On August 3, the petrol price was Rs 82.42 per litre and diesel price was Rs.75.02.

It increased to Rs.86.48 per litre on September 9. Similarly, the diesel price also risen to Rs.79.98 on Sunday.  The petrol prices increased by Rs.4.06 on each litre and diesel price shot up by Rs.4.96 on every litre.

This is increase of around Rs 4 on petrol and Rs 5 on diesel respectively in 40 days. Krishna District Diesel and Petrol Dealers Association general secretary V Ranga Prasad told The Hans India that the consumers are facing the burden with the increase of diesel and petrol prices. He expressed concern that the diesel and petrol price may reach Rs 100 per litre in near future.

The soaring prices of diesel and petrol will affect the transport sector also. Auto-rikshaw drivers may increase the fares. Prices of vegetables and essential commodities may increase with continuous rise of petrol and diesel prices. The Left parties and Congress called for bandh on Monday protesting against the steep rise of fuel prices in the state and country.
