QR code stickers for Ganesh pandals
Visakhapatnam: Now, the city police became tech savvy as they will issue Quick Response (QR Code) stickers to the organisers of Ganesh pandals after receiving online and offline permit applications for the ensuing Ganesh Charturthi fete.
This will be implemented to ensure smooth and incident-free Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations and thereafter the immersion. The QR Code will be linked to the dashboard of the Control Room for monitoring.
The cops can monitor whether the organisers are creating traffic chaos by plying their vehicles on wrong routes. The pandals will be geo-tagged. The organisers among the denizens can submit the applications manually at the office of nearby Assistant Commissioner of Police according to their respective zones in the city.
Speaking to The Hans India, Deputy Commissioner of Police K Fakeerappa said that the city police received more than 500 online applications through www.ganesh.vizag.co. This QR Code will not only help the police personnel but also monitor how many times local police are visiting these pandals to enforce the rules and regulations and also the movement of the vehicles during the procession.
Single window system is facilitating the organisers and associations to seek permission easily filling in details about the mike sets, loudspeakers, cultural programmes and for implementing safety protocol.
The applicants have to give details about the idol height, date of immersion, fire safety measures and other necessary arrangements, said Fakeerappa. Contact numbers of lifeguards, who are expert in swimming, will be shown on the police website so that pandal organisers can get in touch with them in case of an emergency. Besides, there are 10 immersion points identified in the city, he added.
