Trial run conducted at Kondaveeti Vaagu Lift Irrigation Scheme

Vijayawada: The AP's new capital location Amaravati will not face submerging threat in future. The State government has completed the construction of Lift Irrigation Scheme at Sitanagaram of Guntur district exclusively to avoid flood threat from Kondaveeti Vaagu.

The officials of Water Resources department successfully conducted the trial run on Sunday. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the project next week. The pump house, delivery system, regulator and substation were constructed under this project with a cost of Rs 222 crore.  

The works of project was started in January 2017. The Lift Irrigation Scheme can lift 5000 cusecs with its 16 pumps and motors. The project has been designed by taking into consideration of last 100 years floods of KondaveetiVaagu.
