Zilla Parishad meet witnesses noisy scenes in Kadapa

Kadapa: Pandemonium prevailed at the Zilla Parishad general body meeting held here on Sunday with the MLAs of Opposition YSRCP and ruling TDP leaders stalled the proceedings for two hours on various issues. The meeting ended without taking any decisions on severe dry spell conditions prevailed in the district. 

Agriculture minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, who was also in-charge minister for Kadapa district, appears to be mute spectator as he failed to convince both the party leaders in the smooth running of house proceedings.

The problem started with the YSRCP MLAs launching protests with placards by surrounding ZP chief podium finding fault with the collector and ministers for their failure in maintaining time discipline. Rayachoti YSRC MLA G Srikanth Reddy said took serious objection over ministers Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy and C Adinarayana Reddy entering the meeting hall at 11.24 am.

However, collector CH Harikiran, who entered the meeting hall 11 am, sought apology from members for coming late for the meeting by saying he was engaged with the state SC, ST commission Karem Shavaji. MLAs demanded the ZP Chairman to allocate maximum time for discussing drought conditions prevailed in the district.

Despite several appeals by ministers, the members did not relent and continued their protests saying violation of time discipline and protocol by the government. The situation went out of hands with Proddaturu YSRCP MLA Racha Mallu Siva Prasad Reddy straight away went to the dais and sitting on the chair against norms in protest inviting APCOB Chairman Gujjula Srinivasulu to the general body meeting.
