Call to promote clay idols to save nature in Bhimavaram
Bhimavaram: Rajya Sabha Member Thota Sitaramalakshmi has called upon the youth to work for protection of environment by preventing pollution.
She took part in free distribution of 5,000 clay Ganesha idols organised by Bhimavaram Dotcom and West Berry School at Geeta multiplex here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the MP said that youth should sensitise people on use of clay Ganesha to save nature.
“There is grave threat to our nature as Plaster of Paris and colours were used in making idols these days.
These things will prove dangerous for man’s survival on planet earth,” she said.
She appreciated Bhimavaram Dotcom which was supplying clay idols for seven years. As per Hindu tradition clay should be used for making Ganesha idols, she added.
Bhimavaram MLA P Ramanjaneyulu and Undi MLA VV Sivarama Raju said that water would get polluted when colour and POP idols immersed during Nimajjanam.
Municipal chairman K Govinda Rao, AMC chairman K Nageswara Rao and others spoke.
