Crowds at makeshift shops on festival eve in Rajahmundry
Rajamahendravaram: All the roads in the city turned crowded with the people busy in purchasing flowers, fruits, various leaves for pooja to Lord Vinayaka in connection with Vinayaka Chavithi festival on Thursday.
Devi Chowk, Ganesh Chowk, Azad Chowk, Pala Chowk, Jampeta centrs, Ramalayam centre, Pushkar Ghat, main road, Kambala tank, municipal stadium are rush with the people.
Movement of vehicles slowed down at the areas due to heavy rush. Each bunch of mango leaves was sold for Rs 10 and each apple was priced at Rs 25, pineapple Rs 20, sugarcane stick Rs 10, Maredu fruit Rs 10, orange Rs 5 and a bunch of patri (with all varieties of leaves) Rs 20.
This year about 300 Ganesh mandapams were installed in the city and the mandapam organisers are decorating the mandapams. Rajamahendri Ganesh Utsav Samithi is coordinating the mandapams.
