Kanna, Purandeswari object to TDP criticism against BJP

Vijayawada: Refuting the charges of TDP leaders that the BJP was behind the non-bailable warrant (NBW) issued against TDP supremo and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu by a Maharashtra court in connection with Babli project, BJP state president Kanna Lakshminarayana outrightly denied the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi behind the issuance of NBW.

Participating in the swearing-in ceremony of AP BJP Mahila Morcha president Thota Vijaya Lakshmi here on Friday, Kanna reacted to the comments of Telugu Desam leaders.  Stating that the court had been issuing notices since 2013, Kanna said the court had issued NBW against Naidu for not attending the court after it had served notices for 22 times.

He wondered as to how the TDP leaders were blaming the BJP leadership for issuing of NBW by a Maharashtra court. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu never respected the authorities of judiciary, he said the case was booked during the Congress rule.

The BJP gave utmost priority to women in the Union Cabinet and party leadership positions, Kanna said and added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced 14 schemes for the welfare of women. The TDP government was looting the public with Janmabhoomi committees, he alleged.

Former Union minister D Purandeswari also took strong exception to the criticism of TDP leaders. She said that the BJP has no role in connection with issue of NBW against Naidu. She alleged the TDP has been unnecessarily politicising every issue and suggested it to ask the Maharashtra government and judiciary over the issue instead of blaming the Centre.

Stating that the BJP had accommodated six women in the Union Cabinet, she reminded that the crucial defence portfolio was also headed by a woman. She also criticised the TDP government for call money cases registered during its rule in the state.
