GVMC, HPCL launch cleanliness drive in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: Commissioner of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) M Hari Narayanan inaugurated 2019 Swachh Sarvekshan and Swachh Bharat fortnight on Saturday. 

The GVMC and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited-Visakh Refinery (HPCL-VR) jointly taken up the fortnight city cleanup drive which will be continued till October 2.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner lauded the HPCL-VR Management about their cooperation in maintaining the city as clean and green. 

As a part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, the HPCL-VR is helping the GVMC by taking up several programmes and also sponsoring several tools and machines to maintain the Visakhapatnam as a clean city, he added.

On the occasion, Executive Director of HPCL-VR ASV Ramanan said that in order to create awareness on the importance of the cleanliness and good health, the HPCL was taking up massive programmes for the past four years. 

Over five lakh posters, one lakh door stickers, 50,000 stickers for vehicles and also deputed 12 publicity vehicles to take up various awareness programmes on Swachh Bharat programmes, the Executive Director said.

Chief General Manager of HPCL-VR N Raja Rao, Chief General Manager B Balagangadhar, Chief Manager, HPCL-VR US Sarma, Additional Commissioner of GVMC GVVS Murthy, Chief Medical Officer Dr A Hemanth Kumar and GVMC Swachh Ambassador PLK Murthy were present.
