Fisheries Department inks MoU with American company

Amaravati: “The Fishin”, an American company, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding cage cultivation of fish in water bodies in the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday. 

Fisheries department officials exchanged the MoU with the company in the presence of the Chief Minister at his chamber in Assembly. The company expressed willingness to raise the Tilapia variety, which is a popular variety across the globe at present.

Officials informed that the variety of fish contains vitamins B, D and Omega 3 fatty acids. Favourable climate, availability of hatcheries, improvement in export facilities, development of ports and practicing fish farmers are the strengths of Andhra Pradesh in attracting the global companies, the officials said. The company aimed to invest Rs 500 crore at various water bodies across the State.

It will provide direct employment to 4,000 and indirect employment to 8,000 youth in the State, the company authorities explained. On this occasion, Chandrababu Naidu hoped that the AP will emerge as lead State in the country in exporting fish produces.
