Girl’s parents oppose inter-caste love marriage

Vijayawada: A newly married couple feared threat to their lives in the backdrop threatening calls being received by them from the parents of the girl. 

The young couple got married three months ago against the wish of the girl’s parents, who opposed the inter-caste marriage. The girl hails from Reddy community, man is from Scheduled Caste.

They narrated their horrible experiences to the media at the Press Club here on Tuesday. Bride Siva Deepthi Reddy of Gudur mandal, Nellore district, fell in love with one Murahari Vijay, a lab technician from Kurnool, and got married three months ago. Deepthi Reddy is a B Tech graduate.  

She told the media that her parents Bandi Satyam Reddy and Bandi Padmavati had opposed the inter-caste marriage. She informed that she and her husband been targeted by parents and relatives for the past three months. She said they received several threatening phone calls in recent days. 

She said the parents with the help of mobile call data are easily tracking them and haunting them to kill. The couple has approached the media in view of the brutal murder of P Pranay, an SC, who was murdered by girl’s father in Miryalaguda of Nalgonda district recently.

Panicked with the Miryalaguda incident, Deepti Reddy is seeking protection from the police. She alleged that some of her relatives working in police department, too, opposed their marriage and supporting her  parents. Murahari said there is a threat to their lives and alleged that police are not responding to their pleas.
