Pydiraju death: High Court seeks affidavit from police
Visakhapatnam: The High Court took a serious note of the alleged custodial death that took place last week in the city in which habitual offender G Pydiraju died. A division bench of High Court directed the AP police to file a detailed counter affidavit on the recent incident of death of Pydiraju.
After going through the counter affidavit, the court would decide whether the said incident was custodial death or not, the bench said, while accepting a petition. The bench also sought to know when was the victim taken into custody and when he was released from the police station.
The judges made these remarks after hearing a petition filed by a city-based advocate NH Akbar. According to the police, Pydiraju was taken into custody for an inquiry and was released the next day. However, Pydiraju died in a private hospital while undergoing treatment.
