Students Federation of India calls for educational bandh on September 25
Vijayawada: The Students Federation of India (SFI) will observe statewide bandh on September 25 protesting the exorbitant fee being collected by the private educational institutions from the students.
SFI state committee leaders A Ashok, K Prasanna Kumar, districts committee members M Someswara Rao, D Gopi, Surya Latha and G Rakesh released a bandh poster here on Friday.
On the occasion, they alleged that the private colleges were collecting lakhs of rupees as fees from students as the government failed to act on them. The corporate colleges and schools were violating all established rulesframed by the government for fee structure, they said.
They also said the government did not release scholarships and arrears of fee reimbursement amounting to the tune of Rs 2,500 crore for current year.
Stating that the government had increased the engineering college fees from Rs 60,000 to Rs 1.10 lakh per year, they said the government had failed to fill all the vacant professors posts in colleges and teacher posts in aided schools. The SFI leaders appealed to students to participate in the bandh and make it a grand success.
