Container toilets for floating population in Anantapur city

Anantapur: The Municipal Corporation of Anantapur has embarked on a project of providing container toilets for the benefit of floating population, who come to the city from the local mandals.

The idea is to end public urination and ensure good sanitary conditions in the city. Two container toilets which were already installed are adding ambiance to the city.

Municipal Commissioner PVVS Murthy told ‘The Hans India’ that the city would have 15 container toilets. Each container costs Rs 7 lakh. A bio-digested tank technology has been introduced to self-digest the faecal matter.

The container toilet projects have been introduced under the Swachh Andhra programme. Separate container toilets are also arranged for women. Local MLA Prabhakar Chowdary was instrumental in the introduction of container toilets.
