Probe corruption in MGNREGS works: CPI

Kakinada: East Godavari CPI district secretary Tatipaka Madhu alleged large scale graft in the execution of works under MGNREGS in the district.

Speaking to media persons at party district office on Sunday, he said that right from APD, MPDOs and even field assistants swindled large amounts without execution of any works under the scheme in several places in the district.

The CPI leader quoted the allegation of Komaragiri  MPRC member in U Kothapalli, K Nooka Raju, who wrote a letter to PD, DWAMA quoting Rs 1.2 crore funds misuse in the village alone.

The CPI leader said that this was one of the major incidents of misuse of NREGS funds to the tune of crores of rupees.

The CPI leader demanded that the government conduct comprehensive inquiry by District Collector on the overall misuse and graft in NREGS works.

The party leaders N Kishore, T Prasad,  Komaragiri MPTC member Nookaraju and others participated.
