CPM demands CID probe into VMC corruption at Vijayawada
Vijayawada: CPM state leader Ch Babu Rao alleged that Vijayawada Municipal Corporation has become a den for corruption as there are allegations against the Mayor and the Corporators of various divisions and said a CBCID inquiry was needed to bring out the facts.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Babu Rao demanded that the government appoint a committee on the allegations made by the mayor and the corporators against each other.
He said that VMC had received Swachh Survekshan award and secured the first position in Livable City across the country and blamed that the VMC was now stand in number one position in corruption in 125 years old history of Vijayawada.
He alleged that about Rs 1,000 crore scam was done by the ruling party leaders, corporators and officials.
He further alleged that corporators were working as collection agents for MLAs to share the corrupt currency.
He said that quid pro quo system was followed at VMC as part of their corruption and blamed the MLAs in housing schemes.
He demanded that the government appoint a CBCID inquiry into the corruption of corporators and the mayor.
The CPM city secretary, Donepudi Kasinath was present.
