SI placed under suspension
Visakhapatnam: After the killing of TDP MLA K Sarveswara Rao and former MLA S Somu by the Maoists, Superintendent of Police Rahul Dev Sharma suspended Dumbriguda Sub-Inspector Amman Rao on Monday. According to sources, locals raised their voice against Amman Rao accusing the Sub-Inspector of failing to protect the lives of the two leaders.
After the incident, angry locals ransacked Dumbriguda police stations and set the furniture in the police station on fire. It is learnt that Rao didn’t pacify the angry locals and rein in those indulging in violence. “ We have initiated a departmental enquiry and appropriate action will be taken after the probe,’’ said Rahul Dev Sharma.
Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister N China Rajappa said that a probe would be conducted to ascertain how the ultras managed to attack the TD leaders despite the fact that their activities were under control for the past some years in the state. The Girijana Sangam leaders observed bandh in Agency area on Monday. The bandh will also be observed on Tuesday in protest against the murder of two leaders.
