Ban on plastic: RMC collects 1.25 lakh penalty in Rajamahendravaram
Rajamahendravaram: Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation (RMC) cracked its whip on traders and collecting fines who are selling plastic material including carry bags and glasses.
The RMC banned usage of plastic in the city from September 15 and Commissioner Sumit Kumar is very much particular to implement the ban effectively.
As part of it, the RMC officials collected 574 kgs of plastic and a fine of Rs 1.25 lakh relating to 200 challans from September 15 to 24.
The corporation was depositing the collected fine amount in a separate account.
About 10 teams are supervising the implementation of plastic ban in the city.
Meanwhile, city planner Vara Prasad collected a fine of Rs 28,600 from 42 challans and 137 kgs of plastic in divisions Nos 21 to 26.
He is in-charge of plastic ban implementation.
