Vijayawada: All the educational institutions in the city were closed following the call given by various student unions in protest against the exorbitant fees being collected by the management of private institutions.

The Students Federation of India (SFI) leaders on Tuesday demanded that the government resolve all the problems from LKG to PG, increase the mess and cosmetic charges according to the present prices, release pending scholarship and fees reimbursement amounts, roll back engineering and polytechnic fees, appoint a committee on MBBS admission and punish the culprits besides allocating universities to Andhra Pradesh.

The leaders alleged that the government had failed to take any action on the private institutions even though they were collecting lakhs of fees violating all established rules framed by the government for fee structure.

SFI state committee leaders A Ashok, K Prasanna Kumar, districts committee members M Someswara Rao, D Gopi, Surya Latha, G Rakesh, and others participated in the bandh.
