Yonex Sunrise All India Sub-Junior Badminton Tourney from Oct 2 

Guntur: Yonex Sunrise All India Sub-Junior (Under -13) Ranking Badminton Tournament for boys and girls will be held from October 2 to 7 at the NTR Stadium and Guntur Club here. Qualifying matches will be held on October 2 and 3 and main matches will be held from October 4 to 7. Guntur District Badminton Association is hosting the tournament.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Badminton of Association India Vice -President K Ch Punnaiah Chowdary said that so far they received 789 entries, including 384 entries for boys singles, 127 entries for boys doubles, 212 entries for girls singles, and 76 entries for girls doubles. He said 799 players across the country are participating in the tournament. 

He further stated that a committee has been formed with Guntur District Collector Kona Sasidhar as Chairman of Organising Committee, GMC Commissioner Srikesh B Lathkar, Chukkapalli Ramesh as honorary presidents, Rayapati Ranga Rao as working president, auditor D Srinivasa Rao as organising secretary.  

K CH Punnaiah Chowdary said that Badminton Association of India will select the best players in the tournament to undergo national camp to be held at Prakash Padukune Academy in Bengaluru and at International Coaching Centre in Indonesia.
