Oct 2 to see mega rollout of schemes
Amaravati: Giving highest priority to welfare and well-being of public, the state government has scheduled launch of massive programmes on October 2. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate Mukyamantri Yuvanestam scheme, rejuvenate the ongoing Swachha Andhra programme, and kick-start 150 birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi.
He may also formally hand over 2 lakh houses to the poor on that day. But Minister for Housing Kalava Srinivasulu told The Hans India that the house warming celebrations may be put off to Dasara festival since majority of the public would like to enter their houses on auspicious days.
Srinivasulu informed that the state government has so far sanctioned 11,15,452 houses in rural areas with an estimated amount of Rs 13,911 crore. He said that government has been constructing 13,28,965 houses in both rural and urban areas with an estimated amount of Rs 20,217 crore.
He explained that the state government created a world record by constructing 6,46,086 houses within four years by spending more than Rs 6,856 crore. He claimed that AP was the only state which constructed such a huge number of houses in the country, for the poor and marginal sectors.
At the same time, he said that the state government aimed at providing houses to more than 20 lakh poor families and urged the central government to support this cause.
The Minister explained that the state government identified the houseless people in the state through Smart Pulse Survey, which is more authentic than any other survey and asked the central government to consider this.
He criticised that the central government supported only for 1 lakh houses, as against the state’s request for aid to build 20 lakh houses. Srinivasulu also informed that the government enhanced the area of the house from 450 sqft to 750 sqft.
