AP Govt keen to improve infra in Anganwadis: Minister

Chittoor: The state government has been taking steps to improve infrastructure in Anganwadi centres, said Industries Minister N Amaranatha Reddy after inspecting an Anganwadi centre at Thotakanuma village in V Kota mandal on Thursday.

It may be stated here the state government has renamed Anganwadi centres as Anganwadi pre-schools recently. He enquired with pre-school students about the mid-day meal and other facilities being provided to them.  

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister appreciated Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for increasing the salaries of Anganwadi workers and helpers. He said the TD government has been allocating more funds for the education sector in the budget.

He suggested to parents to admit their children in pre-schools of Anganwadis to learn basic elements in the nursery and primary education. He made an appeal to philanthropists and voluntary organisations to donate the furniture liberally to the Anganwadi pre-schools.

Earlier, the Minister participated in ‘Grama Darshini’ programme here and received the petitions from the villagers and assured them of resolving their issues at the earliest. As part of the Grama Darshini, a special drive has been initiated to identify the impact of various government welfare schemes on beneficiaries The Minister further said that the Anna Canteens were big hit with poor.
