AP’s first Braille Park inaugurated in Nellore
- Till now, 40 parks are developed in Nellore: Narayana
- Says inadequate nutritious food causes blindness
Nellore: Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana formally inaugurated Louis Braille Park in 35th division on Saturday and also unveiled the statue of Braille.
He said they had developed 40 parks in the city so far and are planning to develop 20 more parks shortly.
The Minister said this is the first park named after French educator and inventor of braille script across the state.
He said it is responsibility of people to remember a great pathfinder to differently-abled persons.
He said India has 37 per cent of blind persons when compared to the population across the globe.
Narayana said main reason for blindness is inadequate nutritious food and hence the state government had focused on menu of Anganwadi schools.
Pregnant women, lactating women and children are being provide nutritious food at Anganwadi centres.
The Minister stated parks in the state are being developed for recreation and for lung space in cities.
The government is giving priority for walking path, open gymnasium, play equipment, and greenery in the parks as part of the facelift activity, he said.
