Nine Day Mega Fete : Elaborate arrangements for Dasara Fest in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: The officials of Kanaka Durga temple atop Indrakeeladri have made elaborate arrangements for the nine-day Dasara festival celebrations beginning from October 10. 

After releasing official invitation for the auspicious event, the temple staff also started selling the special pooja seva tickets through online. 

Meanwhile, the police department is making elaborate security arrangements for the mega event. It has deployed nearly 5,000 security personnel for the smooth conduct of festival.

According to the temple administration,the festival will begins October 10 and concludes on October 18.

According to officials, the Goddess Durga will appear in Swarna Kavachalankruta Sri Durga Devi alankaramon the first-day of festival celebrations. 

The devotees could get darshan from 9 am to 11 pm after completion of Snapanabhishekam. The devotees could get darshan from 3 am to 11 pm on remaining the eight days during the festival celebrations.

The deity will be decorated in the form of Sri BalatripuraSundari Devi, Sri Gayatri Devi, Sri LalithatripuraSundari Devi, Sri Sarswathi Devi, Sri Annapurna Devi, Sri Mahalakshmi Devi, Sri Durga Devi, Sri Mahishasuramardini Devi and Sri Raja Rajeswari Devi. 

Goddess Sri Durga will appear in two alankarams on October 18 on the occasion of Vijayadasami. 

Sri Durga will give darshan as Sri Mahishasuramardini Devi up to 11 am and later appears in Sri Raja Rajeswari Devi alankarm. Darshan for devotees will be closed from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm on everyday to perform PanchaHarathi pooja.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will present pattu saree to Goddess Durga on October 14. The celestial boat ride of Sri Durga Malleswarai Swami will be conducted in Krishna River on October 18, the concluding day of the festival.

The state government has already accorded state level status for Dasara festival at the Durga temple. 

The police, the district administration and the endowments department have finalised the plan for the event. 

Special queue lines will be arranged for devotees and the temple administration will utilise the services of various voluntary organisations for the event. 

Police Commissioner Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, Kanaka Durga Temple Trust Board Chairman Y GourangaBabu and EO V Koteswaramma and board members have already conducted review meetings several times over the celebration of the festival. 

All the arrangements are being made for the past several days, said Durga Temple trust board member G Padma Sekhar.
