Kin warned against negligence of aged
Tirupati: World Elders Day celebrated by Rashtriya Seva Samithi (RASS) and Help Age India here on Monday, in which 275 elders from Tirupati, Papanaidupet and Renigunta mandals have participated.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA M Suguna has assured all help to the elders, widows, physically challenged people and pensioners through the government. She advised them to take balanced diet, practice meditation and exercise daily for keeping good health.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) MVS Swamy said that family members should take responsibility of elders in their family and government has been implementing stringent acts for the welfare of aged. General Secretary of National Council for senior citizens and RASS Dr G Munirathnam has explained the initiatives of RASS towards elders.
On the occasion, hand sticks and digital iPads worth Rs 5.5 lakhs were distributed to the elders. Director (Programmes) V Nagaraj, Andhra Bank Manager Prathap, Help Age India representative Shadrach, Balaji Elders Welfare Society president Rajeswaramma and others took part.
