Youth should follow Gandhian principles

Visakhapatnam: Nonagenarian freedom fighter and Satyagrahi Pilla Rama Rao was felicitated by Gandhian thinkers of Visakhapatnam to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi and Senior Citizens Day in the city on Monday. Pilla Rama Rao, the former member of the Academic Senate of Andhra University, was sentenced to undergo prison several times during the freedom struggle.

Replying to the felicitations, the freedom fighter has called upon the youth to follow non-violence and Satyagraha principles of Mahatma Gandhi. Recalling his association with the freedom movement, he said that Mahatma Gandhi sacrificed his life to free the nation from the clutches of British rule.  Prof V Balamohan Das, former Vice-Chancellor of Acharya Nagarjuna University, said the ideology and principles of Mahatma Gandhi are still relevant for the present day society.

Prof ABS V Ranga Rao, Director of Gandhian Studies Centre, Challa Krishnaveer Abhishek, Founder of Linguistics Research Society, Rahamunnisa Begum, senior advocate K Shanti, BVK Chaitanya, Ramjee, Nikhita along with Gandhian followers were present on the occasion.
