10K eligible in Nellore: Somireddy

Nellore: Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said the administration had collected data of unemployed youth in the district through Smart Pulse Survey and found 58,400 people were jobless. He said the state government had received 29,675 applications for employment dole till now and 10,202 are eligible for the support.

He addressed the gathering at Kasturba Kalakshetram on Tuesday and said the state government has allocated Rs 1,000 crore for the scheme, he added. The Minister made an appeal to the youth to utilise skill development training programmes, special coaching for competitive exams along with employment dole for shaping the career. The Minister directed the district administration to prepare plans to develop Gandhi Ashram at Pallipadu as an important tourism destination in the district.

The Minister said that everyone has to be proud of Mahatma as he had visited the Ashram twice. He stated that we should strive hard to develop the Ashram similar to Sabarmati Ashram. Somireddy also said that youth have to aim at reaching their goals with constructive efforts.

Mayor Sk Abdul Aziz gave a call to youth to select a career and excel in it. District Collector R Mutyala Raju said that the central and state governments have been introducing new schemes to the public on October 2 every year.

The Collector said steps would be taken to provide employment dole to 10,202 unemployed youth in the district. “There is no deadline for enrolment in the scheme,” he mentioned. He informed that there are plans to provide financial assistance to rest of the unemployed after some changes in scheme. 

Later, Somireddy and Collector R Mutyala Raju have handed over Yuvanestham certificates to beneficiaries. MLC B Ravichandra, DRO Satyanarayana, RDO Chinnikrishna, CPO PBK Murthy, SETNEL CEO Subrahmanyam, Joint Director of Agriculture Chandranaik and others were present. Ministers Somireddy and P Narayana, and the Collector garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Statue Centre prior to the gathering at Kalakshetram.
