40 cr for railway station development: Divisional Railway Manager R Dhananjayulu
Nellore: South Central Railway (SCR) Vijayawada Divisional Railway Manager R Dhananjayulu said that they would be developing Nellore main railway station as a model one with Rs 40 crore with all amenities to the passengers.
He visited the railway station on Tuesday and formally launched the photo gallery of Mahatma Gandhi at the station as the station has been selected as Swachh Bharat station among 16 such stations announced in the country.
The DRM said father of the nation had earlier visited the district twice or thrice as part of attending Pinakini Ashram and he boarded at the station and hence they had arranged a photo gallery for recollecting rich memories.
He said the station has such significance and they would be developing it as a model one with all amenities like FoBs, extended platforms etc. He also said all stations between Gudur and Kavali would also be developed in a phased manner within a year.
He informed that third railway line works are expected to be completed in the next three years and they will provide rehabilitation for the oustees from the encroached lands with the support from district administration. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager P Bhaskar Reddy, Station Superintendent Anthony Jairaj, and other railway officials were present.
