Rajamahendravaram: The abnormal delay in appointing a Vice-Chancellor to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Kakinada (JNTU-K) is affecting the administrative issues as the varsity is functioning under the in-charge VC for four months.

The search committee conducted a meeting in March this year and recommended three names to government for appointment of VC to the largest technological university in the state.

Meanwhile, the government has appointed VC to Vikrama Simhapuri University in Nellore and appointing VC to Rayalaseema University shortly though the search committee met in May and submitted its recommendation to the government.

Many are mounting pressure on the government to get the coveted post to their candidate. But Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is very much interested to appoint an efficient and honest professor without a blot in his career as VC to the varsity.

It is learnt that three professors Ramalinga Raju (JNTUK director-admissions), Madhu Murthi (NIT Warangal) and Sasi Bhushan Rao (Andhra University) are in the race for the post.

Many faculty members and students of the university are expressing their concern over the government's delay in this regard and demanding to
appoint VC immediately.
