YSRCP likely to face rebel trouble

Vijayawada: The political strategy of YSR Congress party to change its party coordinators for Assembly constituencies may pose problems for party leadership. In fact, it is creating internal disputes among the rank and file of the party.

The party leadership has planned to change at least 20 to 30 coordinators in various constituencies. Already some of them were replaced with new coordinators. The leaders who lost chance to get Assembly ticket are angry with the high command move. The ongoing developments are simmering among the rank and file in the party.

The situation seems that some leaders may shift their loyalties to TDP or Jana Sena. Now, the rank and file of the party is in a dilemma on new political strategy.

YSRCP changed its party coordinators for the constituencies of Venkatagiri, Guntur, Mylavaram, Vijayawada East and Central, and Pedana. The party leadership is also ready to replace the existing leaders with other leaders in various constituencies in Prakasam, East Godavari, West Godavari and Vizianagaram districts.   

According to reports, the party leadership appointed the coordinators for all the Assembly segments three years ago. These coordinators spent lakhs for rupees for strengthening the party in their respective constituencies. 

They felt that the party would give tickets for contesting the Assembly election. But the party leadership suddenly changed its stand and replaced the existing coordinators by showing winning chances based on the survey reports.

Venkatagiri constituency in-charge Bommireddy Raghavendra Reddy was replaced with former minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy. Hence, Bommireddy and his followers quit the party criticising the leadership. 

Similarly, L Appireddy worked hard for the development of party in Guntur city for the last three years. But the leadership selected the new in-charge suddenly. His followers are angry with party move and mounting pressure on him to quit the YSRCP. The similar situation prevailed in at least 20 constituencies.  

One senior leader on condition of anonymity, said the YSR Congress’s new strategy is disappointing the senior leaders and party workers. He said the party is selecting new leaders just a few months before the elections.
