Tirupati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu strongly defended his party joining Mahakutami to fight the elections in Telangana and added that it was rather a compulsion to save the 40-year-old party in the State.

Speaking to the media here on Thursday, Naidu said that when they are hell bent on wiping out the party in Telangana, the TDP as the one that was responsible for the development of Telangana particularly, Hyderabad, has no other go but to join the Kutami, alleging that TRS and BJP joined hands to decimate his party.

Sharply reacting to the remarks of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in Nalgonda, Naidu said, “It is not proper for a person holding a responsible position fuming venom on a party and a person and vowing to perish it and also threatening not to allow me to move in that State.

I have right to go anywhere America or Telangana,’’ he said strongly condemning Chandrashekar Rao. “Consistently I have been dignified and refraining from making any such insulting and provoking comments as I have been keen on amity between the two States for the mutual interests of Telugus but only getting such reward,’’ he anguished.

On breaking the alliance with BJP, Naidu said remaining with the BJP till 2004 and later parting with it was only for the sake of the State and added that again in 2014, the TDP joined with the saffron party only in the interest of Andhra Pradesh which was suffering from bifurcation blues.

Naidu expressed his ire over Prime Minister Narendra Modi for targeting Andhra Pradesh and wondered if it was a crime to question the Prime Minister when he erred.

Naidu said, “The PM is going on destabilising one system after another. First it was demonetisation followed by GST rocking the economy and later weakening established institutions one after another and last but not least tarnishing the image of opponents.”

However, Naidu remained evasive when asked about such alliance in AP, first saying Congress is non-existent in the State and added that still there is time.

The Chief Minister alleged that the BJP govt was saving YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy from cases. He said the YSRCP leaders had claimed that they would get the cases resolved in one year and hobnobbing with PM.

Naidu expressed concern over the BJP-led NDA govt supporting ‘corrupt’ people. He further said, “It is BJP which is instigating Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan, Jagan and KCR to finish me and my party.”

All along the Centre and Prime Minister Modi were acting in an instigating manner, Naidu said alleging that Babli dam issue was dug up and unnecessary furore was created on PD account as part of mud-slinging against the TDP, he said.

Naidu pointed out that the Centre failed to fulfill the promises made in AP Reorganisation Act which include setting up a separate railway zone and sanctioning Kadapa Steel Plant.

“They have not spared even the TTD, the biggest Hindu religious autonomous institution, and first tried to take control over it through Archeological Survey of India and was forced to retreat after revolt from the State and now through Subramanaian Swamy they filed a writ in the High Court to take away the TTD from the State’s purview,” the CM said alleging that the BJP was behind former chief priest AV Ramana Deekshithulu making allegations against the TTD.

But the BJP and Modi’s game will not succeed, he said firmly. Earlier, Naidu launched two products - Xiaomi MI smart mobile phone and smart TV and said that three years back not even a single mobile was produced here where as now 30 per cent of total Xiaomi mobiles were being produced in AP. Dixon industries will produce 35 per cent of their total production here.
