Employees JAC gives call for success of Chalo Guntur stir
Srikakulam: Joint Action Committee (JAC) of all government employees demanded immediate cancellation of contributory pension scheme (CPS) and revival of old pension scheme (OPS).
The APNGOs Association conducted a preparatory meeting in Srikakulam on Friday for Chalo Guntur agitation which will be organised on 23 October. Speaking on the occasion, APNGOs Association state general secretary, N Chandrasekhar Reddy, associate president, Ch Purusottama Naidu, and district president H Sairam have demanded scrapping of CPS.
They appealed to employees of all departments to attend the agitation, Chalo Guntur on 23 October. They expected that at least 50,000 employees will attend the stir. As many as 1.87 lakh employees are feeling insecure with the introduction of CPS and it is leading to mental worry among the employees, they stated.
Politicians are getting huge amount of pensions as former MPs and MLAs after working for only five years. But why they are not supporting the payment of pensions for employees who are serving for more than 30 years, the NGO leaders question.
The NGO leaders warned that they will intensify their agitation in future to mount pressure on the government. APNGOs Association leaders, Ch Srinivasa Rao and others attended the preparatory meeting.
