Left, Jana Sena launch hunger stir over registration of houses

Vijayawada: Demanding to restart the registration of the houses at Singh Nagar and Payakapuram in the city, the leaders of CPI-M, CPI and Jana Sena launched an indefinite hunger strike at Singh Nagar here on Saturday.

CPM leader Ch Babu Rao said though the houses were allotted to beneficiaries several decades back, the government for reasons better known to it, stopped registration of those houses. 

He recalled that the registrations were stopped in 2016 and again in 2018. He also demanded immediate resuming of registrations of house sites under GO No 388.

Referring to the woes of tenants in the city, he demanded allotment of houses to all the tenants also. Babu Rao demanded immediate issuance of a GO for registration of houses at Wambay Colony and New Rajarajeswari Pet in the city.
