Space knowledge a must for students: Collector P S Pradyumna

Chittoor: Educational institutions should play a key role in creating interest among students towards space and its experiments, said District Collector P S Pradyumna. He participated as a chief guest for the World Space Week celebrations organised at Sreenivasa Institute of Technology and Management Sciences (SITAMS) here on Friday.

The Collector recalled the great achievements of Indian space scientists in the last several decades. He explained the significance of holding such space research awareness programmes and exhibitions in the educational institutions. 

Delegates from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR) in Nellore and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and other institutions participated in the celebrations. Professor Varadarajan, Nagaraj, P Venkata Reddy, P Ramesh Kumar, R Venkata Raman and others spoke. 

The SITAMS organised a space walk rally from Gandhi Statue to Dargah Circle here for which District Superintendent of Police (SP) S V Rajasekhar Babu and other took part. Students, professors, lecturers and prominent personalities have taken part in the World Space Week Celebrations which will conclude on October 8.

SITAMS Principal Ravi Kumar has welcomed the distinguished guests. A gallery set up to showcase SHAR space achievements here stood as a special attraction.
