Burglars decamp with gold ornaments worth 80 lakh

Tirupati: Burglars broke opened a jewellery shop in the early hours of Saturday and decamped with gold ornaments weighing 2.5 kg which were worth Rs 80 lakh. 

According to DSP (Crime) Ravisankar Reddy, Hemanth, owner of Lavanya Jewellers, has opened the shop on Saturday and found that all the gold ornaments were missing. 

He immediately lodged a complaint with the CCS police. The police swung into action and searched for the evidence. 

To their astonishment, burglars stole the CCTV footage to erase the evidence. 

The DSP mentioned that the Hemanth and his family members are living in adjacent room attached to the shop. 

But, they did not hear the sounds when burglars committing crime. Clues team pressed into service and they collected the evidence. 

To crack the burglary at the earliest, Urban SP Abhishek Mohanty formed a special team to nab the accused.  

Speaking to The Hans India, Urban SP said the burglary was committed by known persons, who knows topography of the jewellery shop.
