Veera Group seeks more land for bus making unit
Anantapur: The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) has allotted 50 acres of land for the bus manufacturing facility at Gudupalle village in the district to be established by the noted Veera Vahana Udyog Private Limited.
The group has asked the state government to allot 120 acres of land for the project but the APIIC has allotted a mere 50 acres. Sources say that the government would consider allotting more land if the group undertakes execution of the project without delay.
Veera Vahana Group which is in the business of manufacturing premium buses in Bengaluru city has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the state government to set up a sister manufacturing company in Gudupalle, according to sources in the Industry Department. The Rs 600 crores project will be established in two phases.
In the phase-1, 500 buses will be manufactured per year and in the phase-2, 2000 mini-buses with a capacity of 12-18 buses will be manufactured. The project is expected to generate 7,000 jobs. It’s mega-unit in Bengaluru is supplying buses to KSRTC and to others countrywide. The Veera Group is urging the government to make available Rs 5 lakh per acre.
