AP boy bags gold medal in skill development
Vijayawada: An ITI certificate holder, Patnala Venu Gopala Rao, who studied air-conditioning and refrigeration, bagged the gold medal and a cash award of Rs 1 lakh in the national competitions organised by IndiaSkills-2018 from October 3 to 6 at New Delhi paving way for competing in the world skill competitions to be held at Kazan in Russia.
Two others— Sai Manikantha and Lokesh Chavan— both students of KL University have been awarded silver medals for their work in Mobile Robotics. Repalle Sai Akhil, who is also student of KL University secured bronze medal in IT network and administration. Another student B Pranith Kumar Reddy, of JNTU- Anantapuram at Pulivendula won a medal after qualifying in IT software solutions for Business Division.
More than 400 participants from 27 states showcased their talent in 46 skills, 10 traditional skills, and four demo skills in the competitions. The Andhra Pradesh State Skills Development Corporation sent 15 participants to compete in 10 trades and three participants won three medals. Student of Government ITI at Kancharapalem, Venugopala Rao has been trained by Visakha Skill Development Institute.
“Venu Gopala Rao along with Sai Manikantha and Lokesh Chavan will undergo training to prepare them for the WorldSkills International competition scheduled in Kazan, Russia from August 22 to27, 2019,” said Koganti Sambasiva Rao, managing director and CEO of Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation.
