Encroachments by prominent persons unfortunate: In-charge Collector Venugopal Reddy
Eluru: In-charge Collector M Venugopal Reddy has said it is very unfortunate that leaders who should play a responsible role have been indulging in encroachments of government lands.
He was receiving representations and complaints from people at Meekosam weekly programme here on Monday. Responding to a complaint that water tanks at Pennada Chinapeta village were occupied by influential people, the In-charge Collector asked officials to take action against the responsible persons for land grabbing by the elite.
A group of villagers brought to his notice that Pedakaluvagunta and Chinakaluvagunta tanks were encroached by leaders in the village. While Pedakaluvagunta was occupied by Banka Appa Rao, the other was encroached by former Sarpanch Ch Ramakrishna who leveled the tank before occupying it, the people complained.
