TDP leaders lambast Centre for discriminative politics
Amaravati: The TDP leaders in AP lambasted NDA government for its discriminative politics as it has not released funds under Backward Districts grants to the state as stipulated in AP Reorganization Act on Tuesday, here in Amaravati. “The central government has been discriminating Andhra Pradesh in releasing funds for development of the state”, blamed Sujaya Krishna Ranga Rao, Minister for Mines & Geology.
The minister, at a press conference at Secretariat, said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi resorted to vindictive politics towards AP, with a personal grudge on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. He said that the central government gave Rs 450 crore to Telangana state but not released even a single rupee to AP under the Backward Districts grants funds.
The Union Government was mandated through bifurcation Act and BJP leaders including Narendra Modi promised to give Bundelkhand package to AP during their election campaign in 2014, but now they are showing empty hands and are saying cock and bull stories, the Minister said.
Suspecting collusive politics between BJP and YSRCP, the minister asked that why the YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy was not questioning the central government on Backward Districts funds to AP. Jaganmohan Reddy was touring in north coastal AP but ignoring the problems being faced by public in that region.
TDP leader and MLC DokkaManikyavara Prasad blamed Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan for not demanding funds for Polavaram Irrigation Project works as well as Backward districts grants from central government. He said that Pawan Kalyan constituted a Fact-Finding Committee and found that the central government had to give more than Rs 75,000 crore to AP as per the Act.
But, he conveniently ignored the demand. TDP Rajya Sabha member Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar blamed that the BJP leaders were not even asking the central government to implement the AP Reorganisation Act and other promises.
