Coordinated efforts vital to stop child marriages in markapuram
Markapuram: The prevention of child marriages is not the duty of one particular person or department but it is the collective responsibility, said the Markapuram DSP NV Ramanjaneyulu.
He advised the revenue, women and child welfare, education departments and media should work along with the police department in eradication of child marriages.
He participated as chief guest in the Divisional Workshop on child marriages and child trafficking with the Line Departments organised by the HELP- Girls Advocacy Alliance with the cooperation of RDO at Press Club in Kandukur on Wednesday.
The DSP said that the child trafficking and child marriages can be averted at the village level by creating awareness.
He asked the aanganwadi workers to pass on information to the police, so that they can stop the marriage and offer counseling to the parents.
The district child protection officer, Jyothi Supriya said that there were more number of child marriages being reported in the Markauram division.
She advised them that it was not required to just stop the child marriages but they should create awareness in the public to not think about them with the help of officials.
