Gaiety marks beginning of Devi Navaratri festivities
Rajamahendravaram: The nine-day Devi Navaratri festival commenced with gaiety and pomp in Devi Chowk here on Wednesday.
As part of it, the idol of Goddess Durga Devi was installed in the mandapam on Tuesday night and Kalasam pratista was performed here on Wednesday morning at Devi Chowk.
Sridevi Utsav Committee has been organising the festivities for 84 years continuously.
After Mysore, Devi Navaratri festival is being held in a big way in Rajamahendravaram only.
During all the nine days, various cultural programmes and stage plays, musical nights, religious discourses etc will be performed.
The entire Devi Chowk area was illuminated and hundreds of devotees have been coming to the Chowk for the darshan of Goddess Durga Devi.
