Kandukur: The Tobacco Board executive director Kaki Suneetha inspected No 26 tobacco auction center in Kandukur and interacted with the farmers on Wednesday.

The farmers said that they were cultivating tobacco as rainfed crop and struggling a lot to produce quality product, but were not receiving minimum price for their hard work.

They requested the executive director to supply fertilisers without any interest from the next season and asked her to provide best package so that they were ready to stop cultivating tobacco.

Suneetha said that she was touring the area to know the issues with the farmers.

She said that the government was trying to provide minimum support price to the farmers and improvise the insurance plan for the tobacco farmers.
She also visited the Tobacco Research center in Kandukur and interacted with the scientists to know about various features of the crop.
