Assurance from RIF demanded

Rajamahendravaram: All the people living in and around S Yanam has demanded the management of Ravva Oil Field (RIF) to give assurance about the facilities they will provide to them, who have been facing various problems for 24 years.

Participating in a public hearing conducted by Pollution Control Board for Vedanta Company for the expansion of RIO, the people demanded crystal clear assurances from the company as Vedanta Company is trying to explore oil and gas, which will pose a great threat to the people in that area. 

In-charge Collector A Mallikarjuna said that he cannot sign on the public hearing report until Vedanta Company submits a bond about the assurances. Vedanta Company in its report stated that the new project is aimed to drill 83 new oil wells, out of which 40 will be brought into production side, as the present oil production was reduced to 6,000 barrels per day from 50,000 barrels.
