KURNOOL: On Tuesday Rahul Gandhi the AICC president said that he would be giving his first signature for granting the special category status (SCS) to the state once he has formed the government at the Centre.

He said he was aware of the promises that have been made to the people at the time of bifurcation and the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act.

He alleged that the BJP had betrayed the people of the state by denying the SCS.

However, he said he would not step into the state if he failed to give the SCS once he becomes Prime Minister after the 2019 election.

The Congress chief accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allowing the corporate sector to loot the nation.

He accused the Prime Minister of resorting to huge corruption in the Rafale aircraft deal and benefiting Anil Ambani, who he said had already robbed various banks for Rs 45,000 crore.

He also accused finance minister Arun Jaitley of conspiring with another corporate financial fraudster, Vijay Mallya.

“Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had a deal with Malya and that is the reason why he had allowed Malya to escape,” Rahul Gandhi alleged.

He also accused the BJP government of total failure in providing security for women, people from lower castes and in the suicide of Rohith Vemula.

“We want India where all of us stand together and face the challenges. The Congress party is the spirit of India and the Congress belongs to all of you,” he said.

Earlier during the day, Rahul Gandhi also had an interaction with the students where he reiterated his party’s commitment for the development of the state.

He further said that the Congress would give the highest priority to the youth by providing opportunities in the sectors of education and employment.
