TDP leaders hold protest at IT office in Guntur
Guntur: A large number of Telugu Desam leaders staged a dharna in front of the Income Tax Commissioner's office in Guntur city on Friday protesting against the raids on TDP leaders and sympathisers houses following instructions from the NDA led government at the Centre.
Addressing the gathering, MLA and TDP district president G V Anjaneyulu said that after TDP distanced from the BJP, the NDA led government at the Centre was taking revenge on TDP government and now was conducting raids on TDP leaders.
He alleged that the Centre was not extending cooperation for the development of the state. He accused the Central government of failing to keep up its election promises including the setting up of a separate railway zone in Visakhapatnam.
MLC A S Rama Krishna said that to overcome the failure of the Centre, following instructions of Central government, the Income Tax officials were conducting raids.
Earlier, holding placards TDP leaders raised slogans against the Centre. Former minister Sanakkayala Aruna and Guntur Mirchi Yard chairman Mannava Subba Rao, were present.
In a statement, TDP state secretary Rayapati Ranga Rao demanded that the Centre conduct raids on the BJP national president Amit Shah's residence and alleged that his son was also involved in several scams. He said the IT officials were conducting raids on those leaders’ houses who questioned corruption of BJP leaders. He said IT raid on C M Ramesh's residence was also part of their conspiracy.
