MCT gearing up for next Swachh Survekshan
- In 2018, the temple city got 4th place at all India level rankings in Swachh Survekshan
- The civic authorities separated all 50 divisions zone wise to maintain he cleanliness
- Allotted wards wise in-charges to keep the Tirupati as clean city
- Set up 11 parameters for public to involve them in Swacha Survekshan contest
Tirupati: Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) has made all the arrangements to compete with other cities across the country in Swachh Survekshan -2019 contest.
For this, the civic body authorities have designed a detailed route map with 11 parameters.
It may be noted that in 2018 Swachh Survekshan rankings, the temple city had got 4th place.
In the view this, MCT Commissioner V Vijaya RamaRaju has instructed the officials to make required arrangements to maintain the city clean and neat for aiming the first rank.
On the instructions of Commissioner, MCT public health department officials have set up few parameters in wards for maintaining sanitation.
To implement the Swachh Survekshan strategy, all the 50 divisions were divided into three zones, East, West and South.
Meanwhile steps are being taken by the officials to resolve the problems in wards like engaging enough staff and arranging proper transport for clearing the garbage.
As part of Swachh Survekshan contest 2019, MCT commissioner has appointed zone and ward special officers for regular monitoring of sanitation maintenance at wards level.
Along with these officials, sanitary inspectors and mestries of concerned ward also attached to sort out the sanitation problems at grassroot level.
As per the Government of India, Ministry of Urban Development Authority norms, MCT has set up few parameters to its staff and public for Swacha Survekshna implementation-- dry and wet waste segregation, door-to-door garbage collection from residential localities, improving the greenery in city roads, plastic ban implementation, maintain the poster-free walls and providing enough water to its public toilets in the city.
Compost yards has been planned for each ward to make manure with dry waste collected from the same ward.
