Step-mother kills girl in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam: The city police cracked the mystery behind the murder of three-year-old girl Alekhya, who went missing on Monday (October 8) and her body was found in the bushes at Duvvada sector 1 area near Kotthuru on Tuesday. 

The police said that Durga, the second wife of the victim’s father, is the prime accused in the case.

Addressing the media here on Saturday, ACP Prem Kajol said that R Durga, native of Icchapuram of Srikakulam district and living at Narava in Visakhapatnam, married R Krishna, who was already married with Meenakshi and had a girl, Alekhya. 

Durga also gave birth to a girl. Durga was unable to bear when family members and her husband praises Alekhya and neglected her daughter. 

She lured Alekhya with a chocolate, who was playing at her house on Monday evening and took her to her sister’s house in Duvvada. 

There she banged Alekhya’s head to the wall till the girl died and threw her body into bushes and fled from there. 

Registering a case with the police about her missing daughter, Krishna told police that he suspects his second wife, Durga, who tortured the girl in the past. 

Based on this and information of a kirana store owner, police interrogated Durga, who confessed to her crime. 

Police arrested Durga and sent her for the remand.
