AP Ministers deputed to monitor relief measures
Nellore: Agriculture Minister SomireddyChandramohan Reddy said that the state government had deputed ministers for monitoring distribution of relief material to the victims in the cyclone affected areas in Srikakulam district.
He visited Mittapalem village in Muthukurmandal on Monday and inspected the ongoing relief works. Speaking to the media, Somireddy said that coconut, cashew and mango crops were badly damaged due to gales during the cyclone. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had decided to provide aid of Rs.900 per one coconut tree while the Centre had announced Rs.300 per tree as compensation, he said.
He also said the state government had announced Rs.25,000 as compensation per hectare for damage of cashew nut and mango gardens. Government would extend financial support to the fishermen for getting their boats repaired which were damaged due to cyclone,’’the minister said.
The government has been providing drinking water in the affected areas in the district, he added.
